Salem Audubon Society, with the assistance of the City of Salem, has produced an information-filled Bird Checklist in a handy portable "trifold" format for easy use in the field. You can access the list in Adobe Reader format by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page and printing the document (in landscape format) for your immediate use. Copies of the list can also be obtained from the office of SAS in the Reed Opera House in downtown Salem at the address shown. This list covers the 200 birds found within an approximate 15-mile radius of downtown Salem, including Ankeny and Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuges (NWR).
For those seeking birding locations closer to home, check out the Salem Birding Sites maps and descriptions now available. Note however that some sites may involve access over private property which should never be entered without the owners permission. For more information on where to find birds in the Salem area, call or write Salem Audubon Society.
